Staff Writer About half of all teenagers admit to texting and driving. With newer technology, cell phone companies should already come out with the phone that automatically locks itself while the car is in drive. Cars now a days should have something installed that stops cell phone users from texting and driving. We need better apps for phones that won’t let us text and drive. There’s a new category of apps just for this like iZup, tXtBlocker, and CellSafety. Although there are already apps for this, they are not as effective as they should be. These phone apps rely on your phone’s GPS to calculate your speed. Once you are going 5 or 10 miles an hour your phone locks up so you can’t text, call, email or surf the web. You will know when the software is in effect. You will get a “MESSAGE BLOCKED”. A texting driver is 23 times more likely to get into an accident than a non-texting driver, so next time you want to text and drive, think twice.
